Fast Facts

OWN

  • EQT owns or maintains the drilling rights to 3.4 million acres of land in the Appalachian Basin.
  • We have 12.5 trillion cubic feet (Tcfe) of natural gas reserve potential, including proved, probable and possible reserve categories 3P.
  • We own more than 4.0 Tcfe of proved natural gas reserves, making EQT one of the largest owners of reserves in the Appalachian Basin.
  • EQT drilled 702 gross wells in 2009. Of those, 403 were horizontal wells, 347 targeting the Huron/Berea play and 46 targeting the Marcellus play. The company also drilled 217 vertical wells in the coalbed methane (CBM) play, mostly in the Nora Field. EQT was successful on more than 99% of the wells drilled in 2009, despite 79% of those being drilled on locations described as probable and possible.
  • EQT has 14 natural gas storage reservoirs with nearly 500 MMcf per day of peak delivery capability and 63 Bcf of storage capacity, of which 32 Bcf is working gas.

OPERATE

  • EQT operates with a very low cost structure, making our drilling efforts resilient to lower natural gas prices.
  • EQT own or operates more than 11,000 miles of pipeline, forming an extensive midstream infrastructure that allows EQT to gather, transport and deliver natural gas to markets in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States.
  • EQT owns or operates 243 compressor units comprising 121 compressor stations with approximately 249,000 horsepower of installed capacity.
  • EQT has approximately 1,800 employees working throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and Kentucky.
  • EQT experienced record annual sales of produced natural gas of 100.1 Bcfe in 2009, 19.5% higher than in 2008.

OUTLOOK

  • Because EQT’s Appalachian reserves are geographically situated between the Northeastern and Midwestern United States, where the demand for natural gas is historically high, our outlook for continued growth remains high.

EQT FOUNDATION

  • The EQT Foundation currently has assets of more than $35 million.
  • In 2009, the Foundation board awarded nearly $2.5 million in grants.
  • Since 2003, the Foundation has contributed close to $12 million to nonprofits to support projects such as the Hill House Association in Pennsylvania, the Mountain Arts Center in Kentucky and the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences of West Virginia.

ENVIRONMENT

  • EQT is committed to operating in a manner that protects the environment while remaining economically competitive.
  • We are proud to be a major producer of clean burning natural gas; and we transport that gas in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • We take every step to mitigate possible environmental impact by partnering with community leaders and other interested stakeholders in the regions in which we operate.
  • We collaborate with environmental groups to ensure our projects blend naturally into the environment and cause minimal disruption.
